Ecological Risk Assessment

Ecological risk assessment guidance and knowledge has rapidly evolved in the last several years, creating the possibility for more refined and accurate assessments. Neptune’s team of ecologists, ecological modelers, ecotoxicologists, and statisticians supports ecological risk assessments by:

  • Developing ecological conceptual site exposure models and media- and species-specific risk-based values that follow appropriate federal and state guidance but reflect potential exposure to site-specific environmental conditions and species, as opposed to generic conditions and species;

  • Developing assessment endpoints and associated measures that incorporate the current state of ecological knowledge as well as public and stakeholder involvement to ensure that the ecological risk assessment supports decision making; and

  • Conducting risk assessments for a variety of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems based on the appropriate regulatory drivers, current science, and stakeholder input.

We also offer ecological risk assessment training.
